Here's how you get the HTML to display as "<b>bold</b>" instead of "bold":
$var = str_replace("<","<",$var); $var= str_replace(">",">",$var);

I get what you mean. You'd use &nb sp; for it. I posted that in your guestbook saying that's what I thought, guess I was right.

i suggest you look into htmlspecialchars(), it'll make it so that html and such can't be used, and after you use that, you can make your own UBBC code ^_~
also another clue, functions work the same as they do in JS, just the variables look different
function myFunc($input) { $input = preg_replace("/\d/","",$input); return $input; }
echo myFunc("blah blah 324 blah");
also, for loops look and work basically the same
so to go regular, you could do this for example (assuming that $blah is the total count of entries)
for ($a=0;$a<$blah;$a++) { echo $mer[$a]; }
or to go backwards
for ($a=$blah;$a>0;$a--) { echo $mer[$a]; }
just some useful hints ^_^
