Wow, I can't believe it's taken me three years to play this (it came out in 2002). I'm sure you've at least heard of it. You (you can name yourself) move to a town (which you can also name) and you just live there. It's really simple, but I'm still playing, so that means there has to be something interesting.
You start out working for this guy so you can pay off your mortgage for your house...my house is like a closet, basically, but I think I can expand on it later on. You finish working for him pretty quickly, and then you have to pay him off by other methods.
This game is real time, so even if you're not playing, and you come back two hours later, it'll be two hours later. It's adjusted by your GameCube clock.
You can buy a lot of things...but I just got most of them by typing in codes, including getting a golden shovel and axe.
Even though my house is really small now, I've managed to fit in a Mario statue, a Luigi statue, an Arwing replica, a GCN logo, a small box with a notebook on it, and a radio. You can put like 50 songs in the radio, which is cool.
I don't even have a bed. =P
I could go on, but I probably shouldn't unless someone has played this and knows what the hell I'm talking about.

Great game. I got all the house upgrades, got a gold statue in the town, and my bank at the post office has max gold. I have a rating (from that one place) of like 100k.

There's a bank at the post office? I should go check that out. How do you get the gold statue and house upgrades? The statue sounds cool, and right now my house is like a closet.

First you pay off the house, then you buy upgrades the same way. Then once you get all the upgrades, you can store money in the bank.
I also have every one of the NES games.

I played this game after Ninjutsu got it in 2002. I was addicted.. even though it looks like a "kid" game from the cover.
Uh .. in our town we had 2/4 house at max upgrades, the rest had no upgrades because Watashi and this other guy we know didn't play it as much.
We had the best place to shop at Tom Nook's. I think Nookington's? I can't remember the exact name .. it's been about a year since I last played it.
Overall, a fun game .. but if you play it too much, it can get old fast.

Yeah, it gets really boring.
Also, I had caught all the bugs and fish.
I forgot the store upgraded. And then those two annoying kids.... GAH!

Even though it's supposedly a "kiddy" game, it's still really fun. Anyway, I finally found out you can pay your debt at the post office, so I did. Of course, Nook is upgrading his place today, so I can't really do that much else because my inventory is pretty full and I've stored stuff in my house's Gyroid already. I found out you can put stuff in letters, though, so that's a good way to get more inventory space. I also have K.K. Rock playing whenever I go into my house. Heh. The Arwing from Star Fox seriously takes up a lot of room, though. How many times does Nook upgrade his shop? Because I know I can go ahead in time by forwarding my GameCube clock, but I don't want to. And does anything bad happen to you if you "reset" enough times? I know Mr. Resetti keeps bitching at you, but is that all? And I swear, everything's a reset, except for saving and quitting. =P I guess I'll have to wait for Nook to reopen his shop before I can get a bigger house and put in more codes. Man, those codes are awesome. I can get anything.

XD Yes they are SO. But do it without codes.
Anyway, he upgrades a few times. I think as much as the house (not sure)
SO, if you get the choice, get the basement as your first upgrade (its huge)
Mr. Resetti's brother eventually comes and apologizes. XD

I met Mr. Resetti's brother once..
I got about 4 NES games but I can't remember which ones.
I also cheated by moving the date in the game around to certain events so I could get the furniture items =P People in my town are like "[namehere], I haven't seen you in 12481 days!". (I went to the very last year that you can set the date to.
