Welcome to the second Hatake Forum debate, based upon which video game type (genre) is the best. Now, we all know that whatever's posted here is opinion, and not fact. However, we can all provide factual information to back up our opinion, so we can make other people cry. Just kidding, but here are a few ground rules: - No flaming/insulting other members. This debate and any other debates we'll have won't be based off of which member is better, or why you dislike him/her (just kidding about the "her" part). Things could get heated...once again, just kidding. If you get riled up over a debate you're having with an anonymous person on the Internet, you need a good kick in the nuts. - Try to sound intelligent. Don't go out of your way to try to sound funny, because you should try to at least sound logical; that way you'll win the debate. - Any staff member has the right to do anything they want with your posts as long as it's in line and not mod abuse. Warnings/other punishments may be given if you act like a five year-old. I think that's it...that was from the other topic. Now on to the "debate." Whoever wants to start out can, and I'll keep my own rules of participation that I stated in the previous debate.

You might as well list most of them. These are my brief opinions on most game types. These are all the ones I could think of: RPG MMORPG Sports Racing Action Adventure Side Scrolling FPS Puzzle RTS
Now for my debate. RPG/MMORPGRole Playing Games and Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Games are my favorite, with First Person Shooters as a close second.. A brief example of them are the Final Fantasy series (PS), Fable (XBox), and Tales of Symphonia (GC). The basic description of them is that you run around leveling your characters to fight monsters, and other humans sometimes. MMORPG's are played online with other people like Guild Wars (PC) and other games.
The reason I find them so fun, is because its always a challenge. They get annoying having to always level, but there's some games where it is completely skill. Such as Fable, and Tales of Symphonia at some points. Not all RPG's require you to level, and they are fun none the less. Some you just run around killing people with a sword, get experience, and then put it into attribute points. I'm unable to finish this because I have to go mow.

you spelled "now" wrong......
I personally like RPG's and First Person shooters.
RPG's
I like these because they are well rounded. It requires more thinking and strategy than hack and slash games, which provides the more intellectual mind with entertainment. Also, they are not without some good ass-kicking moments, where you get to beat down on some one. Interesting story lines can keep you hooked playing for hours. Also, new ones, mostly final fantasy games, contain some awsome CG's.
First Person Shooters
First person shooter are awsome because they provide your mind with a lot of stimulus (usually... think Halo), because you are basically move, and cap some one in the ass. The different arrays of weapons in some games lets you experiment and have fun in multiplayer mode for a long time, especially when theres a rocket launcher (or redeemer, like in unreal tournement, or in Red Faction, there's the..... eh.... eh he..... ha....). For people who prefer Action and adreniline to thinking and puzzles, this is the game for you. Its for me too because I like both of these (RPG's and First Person Shooters).
And the one I didn't mention,
Online games.
I love these solely for the interaction with other people. It's always more fun when you play with a friend, especially when its the game you like and your opponent doesn't suck.

No, I didn't Zoten. I had to go mow the lawn. XD Yeah, Zoten basically covered everything I was going to say, so... I agree.

MMORPGThe best things about MMORPGs ( Massively Multiplaying Online Role-Playing Game ) is the interactiveness. Ever play a simple RPG with no other people to chat with, just the stupid NPCs? Some MMORPGs, you need to pay a monthly fee, which can be a real pain in the ass, but such as Maplestory, it's a free to play game, with tons of other people. Also the leveling can be extremely hard, but with a friend there with you it becomes fun, making you happy and forgetting all about how long it will take to get to the next level.
But there is a bad thing. On all kinds of MMORPGs, the community is not full of nice, kind-hearted people. You will meet a bunch of assholes and dicks who will call you noobs, and high-levels ignore you like your a nobody.
Overall MMORPGs are good, and fun to play when you can make friends.

Smashey took my layout. >_>
Anyway, he makes good points for MMORPG's. They are fun, but there's also offline RPG's that are multiplayer. Tales of Symphonia is a great example. You can play with up to 4 people, or just with on. It is great fun too.

Oh yeah, here are basically all the genres. CD had posted pretty much all of them, but I'm going to try to branch them all out: Action- Shooter -- First-Person Shooter -- Third-Person Shooter - Platformer - Fantasy - Fighting - Action/Adventure -- Side-Scroller - Beat-'Em-Up Adventure- Action/Adventure -- Fantasy -- Horror/Survival Horror -- Platformer -- General -- Side-Scroller Driving- Racing -- Arcade -- Off-Road -- GT/Street -- Mission-Based Puzzle- Music - General - Miscellaneous - Party Role-Playing- General - Console-Style RPG - Turn-Based - Real-Time/Action RPG - Massively Multiplayer Online Simulation- Strategy -- Real-Time -- Turn-Based - Flight - Virtual Life Sports- Traditional - Alternative Strategy- Real-Time - Turn-Based That may be hard to read, but the bold print is basically the genres, a "-" signifies a branch in the genre, and a "--" signifies a branch-off inside a branch of a genre. Some of those (actually, a LOT of them) can be mixed and matched and even combined (and some are), but I hope I covered everything.

You forgot card games. Anyway, more on reasons FPS are good. They can actually improve your reaction speed, by how fast you react to enemies suddently poping out and shooting you. They also give you a sense of coordination, because some games, you have to walk across small objects, or shoot small things or that are small off in the distance.

I'm not much for fighting games (I suck usually, except Tekken Tag Tournement)
But, they do require you to really think. A lot.
If you're playing the CPU.....
You gotta know your opponent. You gotta know what fighting style (no, not kung fu or ju jitsu(sp?), but like...... range and stuff), general speed, strength, and which move they use and are effective against them. You also gotta know your character, and all the above things listed. After that, you gotta be able to assess which moves to make and when to make them. If you make the worst move at the worst possible time, you could be looking at getting nailed across the screen.
Playing a friend/person online (Mortal Kombat: [something] is online).....
You gotta know THEM and the character. You gotta know what their favorite moves are and how good they are. And if you play ShadowyOne, you gotta know that they have a high level of badassery that is near impossible to beat (unless you're me...)

In a way .. we're not really debating =P We should be saying stuff like:
User1: Card games are t3h r0xerz. User2: No FPS's are better. User1: Cards games you get to pretend you're yugioh. User2: In FPS's you get to shoot dumbasses. User1: Well in Card games you get to put cards in defense mode. User3: RPG's own all. You get to raise stats and stuff. user1: Card games can do that!!!111!1!11!1!!!1one!11! User2: ... but in FPS's you wander around larger areas. ETC.
...
Personally, I think this debate was a failure, so I'm going to make Debate #3 be on what's the worst game genre, that way we can actually debate about it, lol.
