Welcome to my .htaccess tutorial ^_^. I'll only teach you how to stop the directory listing in this small tutorial. .htaccess can be used for different kinds of things like: password protecting folders and creating your costum error page, but like i said, I'll only cover how to stop the directory listing. When you go to your website (without the /index) you'll probably see all the files you have uploaded to your host. Well if you don't want everybody being able to see these files you can use the .htaccess. first thing to do is open notepad or any other text editor. put this code in it: Options -Indexes
and save the file without a name and with the file extension of .htaccessNow upload this file to your host and try to get the directory listing. it should be disabled

Wait, how would you save it as a .htaccess extension?
Anyway, the funny thing is, I heard about .htaccess back when I first heard of HTML. I tried to use it somehow, but eventually realized that I was using a host that didn't have PHP, and was one of those basic site builders.
You can also do a lot of things concerning IP addresses with this.

As in banning and blocking? Awesome. Yes @ shadowy: the same way you save a html file on notepad, only this time you save it as .htaccess without a name
