Mostly leaned towards forums/PB. =) Increasing Traffic/Activity -By Jay -> Looks and overall feel. Undoubtably the most important feature of your website/forum. Your overall look and feel of the document is what drives visitors to it. Also, something to remember, if promoting/adverstising...first impressions tend to last forever. So, what this means is ..its better to show people your finished product only to be come of rememberence to them the next time. Premade graphics/templates used on your website/forum means you are more apt to be judged if someone is aware of the template made. So, this goes with creativity. Be creative, try to bring something to the eye that has yet to be seen. Get involved with graphics programs and general knowledge of how they work. Even simple image editing with MS Paint can do the trick at times. -> Advertising/Promoting. Ok, you think you have the thing looking good/half way decent? Hell, even bad..just anxious to get it out there and try something. Advertising the next step. People have to see your site/forum. A good way to start is to submit your site to search engines at first. You can start by submitting at google.com and even placing your site in 'internet directories' all across the web. One popular that I believe is still free is Yahoo's Internet Directory. You can also affiliate with other forums/websites. Mainly active ones that will be worth it of course. Affiliating is swapping mini banners with a site/forum in hopes to increase hits/activity by displaying each others on their website. This usually works, affiliate with the right forums/sites. Preferrably ones that you know will be updated, that are updated daily. If your affiliating with a forum, try to go with one atleast with 50 active members. If a forum has no active members, thers nobody there to see your mini banner. Topsites are sometimes usefull as well. Search for one that matches the genre of your topic and enter in. Also, you can create your own topsites and get people to join those as well. This again, will increase the traffic for the both of you... -> Time and Effort. Now that you have the forum/website out there and world has seen it, is the time you tell yourself "How much time do I want to put into this?". Are you willing to make this part of your daily schedule? Or simply a hobby you do in your free time. Whichever you choose will of course determine the flow of activity as well. If you have the time to advertise daily, then of course, more out there will see the website/forum. Do what you can here and whats sufficient for your time schedule. Remember that if you rush yourself, you could easily flop. Also, if your competing with others, don't expect to climb to the highest rung in a flash. This can sometimes discourage people because they don't meet the standards of the top sites. Again, whichever you plan to do, go at your own pace...dont rush yourself.

How do u add ur website to a search engines? They have links to add your site. Then, you enter the URL and a description. Either that, or their multiple army of crawler bots might pick up your site eventually. And well said, DXD.

Or you can place meta-tags in your header and let the engine pick it up itself. Like it should. So yeah.
