Coding NewsThis Month's coding news!!
Well the first thing ive noticed is that alot of people are starting the make Proboards into Vbulletin
.
There have been alot of vBulletin style code released, maybe because the coders dont have any code ideas left =/
so ProboardsV4 should hurry up and come here so we can start on our new ideas XD.
Also one of the best coders on PB ever has left us, Peter from SSD has left Proboards to go look for work.
He was a god in coding Javascript and we could all see that by the codes he made for SSD.
But people move on and now it's our turn to become a coding legend just like him.
PBV4 news: The release date of Proboards V4 is comming !! April 31.
Alot of coder's are waiting for the release to start their coding,
Nadim with RPG Nova
Eric with Project DragonPoint
Trip & Proto with a new RPG
Not only that, alot of coding mods are going to have to recode the current Database to make it PBV4 useable.
Nadim has started on the ZD coding Index, Alien with SSD's coding index.
and i might put some time to make the codes in the Hatake's DB PBV4 useable.
In the coding chat there is a code battle going on with Hatake's 2 best coders: Uchiha Sasuke and Forte (Eric), this should be interesting to watch =)

Interview (Forsaken)
CrAzY_J says:So what is your reall name?
Forsaken says:Something your not going to find out at this point in space-time.
CrAzY_J says:When did you learn how to code, and where?
Forsaken says:Its hard to say, I picked up your basic html like most people do early on, sometime around December 2003. But the first time I remember really trying my hand at something like JS wasnt till a while later.
I remember back when SSD still had its chatroom, and people used it, I decided to learn to code and spent like a few hours bugging Web, Nadim and Jello for help on it.
From then on I just played with it, learning things and annoying friends on MSN for help.:
Essentially if you knew Coding and was better than me I would have bugged you alot.
And I kinda slowly got better and better.
CrAzY_J says:so do you have any coding heros? like a coder you looked up to? and why?
Forsaken says:Well I have many, people who've helped me, some whos names I've forgotten due to my memory of names being terrible, but a short unordered list would be...
Peter, Coding God, He was always friendly with me and would help me when I asked him questions. I mainly annoyed him about PHP when I began learning that.
Damn this is harder than I thought to remember people
I guess you would say Peter is my coding hero, lol.
Although loads of people helped me.
CrAzY_J says:what is your strongest language? (coding language)
Forsaken says:Either JS or PHP, But I'd say PHP since I do it more.
CrAzY_J says:Which is your best code you made for Proboards?
Forsaken says:I never really made codes for specifically for Proboards, I ussually just see something I want to do and code it, hence there arnt any I could say as my best.
CrAzY_J says:Do you see yourself somewhere in the future with coding?
Forsaken says:I dont know, I'm not the sort of person to plan ahead where I'll be, I guess what ever I'm doing I'll probably be better at it than I am now.
CrAzY_J says:Besides coding you also do Graphics right?
Forsaken says:Correct
"ProBoards Version 4, The Great Recoding Begins"
As most of you should know, ProBoards Version 4 (PBv4) shall soon be released, the 30th to be exact. The large problem for many is, are the codes that they currently have compatible with PBv4? Many codes shall remain compatible do to how they are coded, but an equal amount shall not be compatible.
Some codes, shall not even be needed anymore, such as the Cell Highlight code found at ProBoards Support. Cell Highlight shall be an incorporated feature with PBv4. Only the main Cell Highlight is compatible, some, such as Jello's Calendar Cell Highlight can still be used, assuming they are compatible still.
Anyway, on April 30th, many coders, as soon as their server's are upgraded, shall rush to recode their forums. This includes many forums such as Zanmato Design and Solidsnake Designs. Some know the trick to avoid this all, and that is to save the PBv4 Open Beta pages to their computer, open them there, and then insert and modify their codes.

Coding Tips and TricksError Check
For all you guys still trying to look for error and bugs in your code, it would be very handy to have Mozilla FireFox to
help you check for errors.
Why is FireFox good in checking errors?
Well there is a build in Javascript console which detects JS errors and tells you what kind of a error it is and where it is located.
Also having FF will help you make your codes Cross Browser
.
Another way to check for code errors is by putting this in your URL box of your browser: "javascript:alert(var Name);
This will alert the value of the variable name you alert, thats how you can check if you grabbed the right information or not.
if you didnt it will alert undefined or nothing at all.
