After the disappointment Wraith of Cortex. Can this do any justice and put us out of our platforming boredom? The story is set three years after Wrath of Cortex. Dr Cortex and evil Uka Uka Mask are frozen in an ice cube thats headed towards a tropical island that Crash and Coco are ironcally on. Obviously, the ice cube defrosts leaving Cortex to roam free and cause chaotic justice on Crash Bandicoot.
^ Hey Crash, Its Coco...Oh please, cant you see that beard? With nothing better to do on a beautiful day, Coco is out chasing butterflies when she is shocked by a ray gun fired by none other than Dr Cortex. He kidnaps her. Then disguises as her and tricks Crash into believing Coco is really Coco but its really Cortex. Horrendously cross dressed cortex lures Crash into a trap featuring alot of his old pals from previous games to take out frustration on Crash. They battle it out and Cortex and Crash end up falling deep into the earth.
img109.exs.cx/img109/871/crashtwinsanity11dj.jpg^ Xbox show off there ultra smoothly rendered graphicsits in 3D once again. But i like it in 3D. This time, it looks like 'Wraith of cortex' But has better designs. Loading screens are fufilled with funny artwork which looks very good and entertaining. another thing is tha when you unlock certain gems, you can see very detailed and talented artwork from the game. I have no problems with the graphics or any graphical glitches in Crash Twinsanity, Sometimes you might get trapped in a certain area but its nothing major or big, so thats all good I suppose. the artwork at the end of the game when you see the credits impressed me alot. I like the way they made it look like some cartoon on TV. Good stuff. Now onto the music...
I really liked the music in the game. There some insturmentals and then some songs with some voiceovers in the background music. Very cartoon like, something you would hear in a Bugs Bunny game or even one of the cartoon programs that you watch in the morning. Its just plain marvelous. I dont know why I love it sooo much. I wish I could even have the soundtrack, if there was one. Dr.Neo Cortex's groaning disturbing to hear after awhile. He groans alot when your doing levels involving both him and Crash Bandicot. Funny humour all throughout the game, without a doubt, you will laugh your self to tears. Something that I noticed when I completed the game...Crash Bandicoot never talks throughout the game. which bothered me alot considering he is the main character of the game. but besides that, the sounds of the game really impressed me alot
What you will notice is that theres something new when you play as crash at the start of the game. you can roam instead of be guided in one track like its a blend of 2d / 3d game. But how much fun would it be if Traveller's Tales just made "roaming" Crash game without any new features? Not much.
Throughout Crash Twinsanity, you get to play as 3 characters.
Crash Bandicot - The main platformer dude of the entire game.
Dr. Neo Cortex - Your enemy, is now your ally to help you defeat the evil twin aliens created by the one and only Dr. Neo Cortex. Blast your pesky foes with Cortex's blaster gun.
The newest addition to the Crash Bandicoot strangest gang of allies is Nina Cortex
img109.exs.cx/img109/9314/crashtwinsanityscreen60md.jpg^ Nina Cortex (Dr Cortex's secret daughter, but he calls her niece). She is another frisky ally that doesnt talk throughout the game but shows obvious sign language to express her emotives. She spins just like Crash Bandicot, and has expandable arms that climb onto hooks into levels. She hops instead of runs.
in some levels, Crash and Cortex team together to complete stages, which can be alot of fun.
^ snow board on Dr Cortex head, couldnt of been more funnierSome fun entertaining levels like Snowboarding, playing as Crash Bandicoot and running and help Cortex win levels by jumping on platforms are releasing traps so cortex can run. Its great fun, one of the best platform games I have played for ages. And Im not joking about that either. The gameplay is just funny, After the first battle where the two end up plummeting to their certain doom, the two foes are locked together in a ball of flying fists. You control the two as the ball collecting fruit, and extra lives while avoiding the ever-popular TNT and Nitro boxes. Before you come to the end, though, make sure you stop the two for some funny animations. Maneuver the wild ball of failing fists through the twists and turns until you're finally dumped out. FMV sequences are just plain out fantastic.
^ Also you can both Crash and Dr Cortex have levels were they both hold the crystal and run together trying to complete the level. With this, theres no warp room or anything like that, that seperates the stages. Its just one fluent movement of gameplay, as you go through levels like a adventure game rather than your average platform game. With all this excitement of doing more than just mere platforming, Gives me the option in my mind that I can play this game over and over without a fail due to the fact that alot of Gem collection and crystal collection gives the a lastablity effect. After you complete the game, you can re play the game, this time focusing you state on the Gems and viewing the final ending.
img109.exs.cx/img109/2848/crashtwinsanity73hd.jpgControls are simple and easy to respond to. All you need to learn is jump, action attack, and your basically underway of completing your long journey.
Its definatly a game to try. Everything about it just plain and simply rocks. People say since 'Naughty Dog' Stopped making Crash Bandicoot games, the game went downhill. Maybe that was true with 'Wraith of Cortex' but not with 'Twinsanity'. Theres loads of stuff to do in the game, and it will take at least 2 weeks for you to beat the evil twins, and at least a month to collect all the gems. No need to try b4 you buy. Buy it, you have my guareentee that you will love it. If only Crash Bandicot had more of a personality and used his flapping tongue and actually said a word, I would of been much more satisfyed. It just feels like something is lacking, as the main character of the game is supposed to speak. We can only pray that he does in the next one. If not, then im sure they will lose out on alot of happy Crash Bandicot fans like myself giving them a high rate in there next game.
Ive seen alot of reviews that gave it 7 out of 10, but I think this platformer dishes the dirt to get the 9 out of 10 from me. Dont listen to other game sites that give this a low review, you will love this, if you dont believe me, why not rent it from your local rental store?
Graphics - 8 nice, there isnt really anything bad to comment on
music - 9.5 theyre very humable
gameplay - 9 Fantastic, Levels are hard, thats a good thing though.
Lastablity - 9 with loads of gems to collect, I would say it would last you long.
Overall - 9/10 its a great platform game that should be well recognized to people!
Edit: Modified images. Too big .. they stretched the screen.
