The 10th year anniversary party is here... And Heihachi Mishima is dead.
Basically, the story begins with an army of Jacks interrupting a battle in a dojo between Kazuya and Heihachi. The Jack's initiated a self-destruct sequence and destroyed the dojo with Heihachi inside. Kazuya escaped, but a man named "Raven" reported Heihachi to be dead.
Tekken 5 features a new graphics engine (System 258); as well as vibrant new arenas, moves, and characters (over 30 characters!). Tekken 5's main new feature is the customizable "card" system. The card system is basically a character customization system (formerly only found in Japan arcades with VF4) that allows players to use a data card to customize their character's color scheme and outfit. Your card will also save information such as how many wins & losses you have, your alias, and your rank.
^ From the stunning 3 minute introWell I think most of you thought Heiachi was dead. That wasnt the case in this game (sorry for the spoiler, I couldnt help it, plus im sure you lot knew Heiachi wasnt dead anyway) You now have 5 of the Mishima family in it. (Kazuya, Heaichi, Jinpachi, Jin and Asuka). The 'AI' (The computer's intellegence) has increased dramatically. People even call it 'Great AI'. Well put it this way, if you have been playing the Tekken series most of your life, and can pull off the Ten hit combos and all the techniques, you shouldnt have a problem. Everything that was in Tekken 4 has been either taken out or reworked on. Not mention there is a whooping 33 characters in the game, so its time for you to get practicing. As you may or may not know, theres 3 brand spanking new characters added to the Tekken roster. they are:
Raven :Undoubtably looks like the famous Marvel character 'Blade'. He plays like a ninja character using disappearing techniques and tricks. HE uses Ninja techniques that make him both swift and powerful. He isnt someone who you can button bash with, You will need to take time and devotion to master his jugglers.
Asuka Kazama : Im sure this is Jin's sister or related to Jin in some way. Plays alot like Jun. Stepping up in Jun's footsteps she fuses Jun's old style with hers, she is very combo ish if you know how to use Jun's old moves. Shes swift, and has easy juggler combos. Jun's easy combo moves and 10 hit combos aswell as juggler combos, are now useable with Asuka.
Feng Wei : Killed his master with his bear hands after scolded by him for fighting outside the dojo. He is slow but powerful. Moves remind me of Akira and that shaolin guy from VF4 evo. The reason being is that his moves are powerful as well as stiff.
The full Character Roster - Jin, Kazuya, Heiachi, Law, Paul, Craig Marduk, Lee Chaolin, Ling Xiyaou, Jack-5, Julia, Yoshimitsu, Devil Jin, Brain Fury, Nina, Anna, Steve, Christie, Eddy Gordo, Panda, Kuma, Moukjin, Roger Jr, Ganryu, Wang Jinrei, Lei Wulong, Raven, Feng Wei, Asuka, Hwoarang, Baek Doo San, King, Bruce Irwin and Jinpachi (Isnt Playable, Final boss)
Anna, Lee, Wang, Bruce, Baek, Roger, Ganryu, Mokujin all make it back in Tekken 5 with a few more tricks and tales up their sleeve. Wang still doesnt have drunken fist like I wanted him to have in the previous games. Maybe in the next Tekken, it will happen.
Personally, I thought Ogre killed Lee, Wang, Bruce, Baek and ganryu and then absorbed there ablities same with Jun. (Ogre picked up Juns head in the begginning FMV sequence of Tekken 3 so how the hell can she still be alive in Devil Within mode?)
Jinpachi, The main boss has risen from the burned down Honmaru dojo after it got burned down. under the rubble was Jinpachi who was prisoned by Heiachi. Im not going into detail as it will spoil the sturdy plot of the twist in the game. Jinpachi is indeed related to Heiachi but im not saying how.
Graphics -Backgrounds are sharper and more vibrant than ever before seen in a Tekken game. Smashing opponents through objects or walls seem the same from Tekken 4, not much improvement from there. But scenery wise, theres alot more thoughtful backgrounds and more devoloped FMV sequences. Theres about 3 different intros for Tekken 5. (the teaser trailer, The arcade beginning and the PS2 only beginning intro) They all look stunningly beautiful. But the music for the PS2 only trailer doesnt seem to match the events of whats going on in the trailer. But other than that, the in game background music is decent, better than the crap they threw in Tekken 4. Graphic details on each character is astonishing. Not a detail out of line. Everything is smooth (and if your watching Nina or Anna's behind, you can understand what im saying, lol) So the graphics is definatly a plus side to this game in my opinon.
