We all know video game stereotypes -- specifically RPG's -- exist in games everywhere. But hey, once you get used to 'em, you kind of don't mind that they're there. I'll post some off the top of my head, and add some more later. Most of these apply to RPG's.
• The main character in any RPG will always be an orphan of some kind. Later on in the story he will find out that his parents (if he had any) aren't his real parents, and he must go on a quest to find himself.
• The main female character will always have a large rack. In fact, they'll put in another female character who doesn't so everyone can laugh at her.
• You don't need to show remorse when fighting an enemy's army. I mean, they don't have families or lives or anything. The fact that they're in the group you oppose is reason enough for you to slaughter them without mercy.
• In fighting games, you will always have this one boss who's impossible to kill, but once you kill him and unlock him, he sucks.
• Sleeping at an inn will cure anything and everything -- even death.
• You're just a small-town guy, but you can wield enormous swords, and you and your party who have little-to-no battle experience can quickly and easily shred an entire trained army to pieces.
• If you have any really cool abilities in an action game, ten minutes later it'll be revealed as a flashback and you'll have a character who sucks. Same goes for RPG's.
• Standing on buttons or pushing blocks will easily open well-designed traps.
• Your characters always wear the same clothes, no matter what the occasion. Even if you were supposed to be meeting the president of a well-renowned company, showing up in your soldier's garb with a few of your casual buddies won't give any bad impression at all.
• Swords > guns. It's common sense.
• The main character will always encounter a mid-life crisis after being separated from the rest of the party during the game.
• After you beat the final boss, whatever you're in, no matter what it is, will explode with you escaping at the last minute.
I'm sure there are more I skipped, but that's a good start.

XD HAlf of those don't happen in ToS.
Lloyd was orphaned, but, he knew his father wasn't his real father. XD
Collette is vice-versa with Sheena.
Crucix people have families, they're just souless. That's all. XD
The summons....
In FF1 or FF2 it doesn't cure KO or death.
FF4 biotch. The opening scene. XD
You can change your outfits!
What was Lloy'd mid-life crisis? His father?
Only half the time.

Wow, I expected more replies. Anyway, I didn't they say always happened. Yeah, I said "always," but that's because it's a stereotype. And (in order to your responses): He still went on a quest to find himself. Sheena was a better main female character. Because I said so. What about the Desians and everyone? But really, I was thinking about FF7 when I was posting that. A number of times in the game you fight through Shinra's human forces and kill them and just happily collect the spoils. I said in fighting games, not RPG's. But sometimes summons end up sucking regardless. I mean, really, who the hell used Typhoon in FF7? You got him so late in the game, that by that time you either had Omnislash, KotR, or at least Bahamut ZERO. Well I haven't played FF1 or 2. Yeah. Yeah, you could show up to meeting the king in Sheena's thong. Finding his real parents, I guess. In other games it was all about how you're trying to get laid by another one of your party members, but you're trying to weave in some sort of emotional attachment to it. Well, most of the time. --- And come on, post your own. I didn't post mine so CD could disprove them. I just wanted more people to post. >_>

I don't understand what the thread is asking. I read all of your stereotypes but what am I supposed to put? Stuff that people think always happen in video games?
