Prologue::
It was a cold night. The black sky was full of white spots falling to the blanket of snow on the ground. People bustled among the streets, shopping. Christmas was coming tomorrow. Deep in the city, by the Avenue Park, was a boy and his father, all alone. They had no money, no coats, and worse, no where to go. The boy was suffering from a terrible fever, and the father couldn't help him fight through it. His wife had died a week ago in a car accident, and his house had just burned down two nights ago.
The boy, Matthew, looked up to his father, sneezing and coughing. He could not speak, for he had lost his voice when he was five. His father had never really spent any quality time with him, so he couldn't talk to him, or even use sign language, which he didn't understand much. The boy sighed, and stood up, only to lose his balance. He was a cripple, born with a bad leg. The father grabbed his arm before he fell into the lake right behind the bench. The father held his son for hours to come, freezing in the blizzard of Christmas Eve. They were stuck here, forever with no home, no food, no money, and no family to help.
(I just thought I would post my entire story in just one thread, with replies between each chapter.)

Don't post this in the story telling thread.
It sounds good.
