Wow, I've had Final Fantasy Chronicles for almost a year, and I haven't really bothered to play either Final Fantasy IV or Chrono Trigger. Well, I was really bored yesterday, so I decided to start on FFIV. It's not bad at all, but it's kind of hard to play after you've played and beaten all the 3-D FFs on the PlayStation. The loading times between screens and battles are a lot faster, though, so that's good. But the saving...THE SAVING. The loading times there are absurd. It's as if they don't want you to save. In fact, that's why FFIV has a Memo. I haven't seen this before. A Memo is basically where your PS acts like an Xbox. Once you choose Memo, the game saves all your data to the PlayStation itself. The only catch is that if you use a hard reset (a soft reset would be using L1+L2+R1+R2+Start+Select) or turn the power off, the data on the Memo is erased, so you'll still need a memory card. Except the saving/loading time for the Memo is a lot faster than actually saving. -_- Anyway, I doubt anyone's played this, but I'll post my stats anyway.... I'm about to go to Mt. Hobs to reach Fabul, so Golbez doesn't get its Crystal. Cecil is at level 17, Rosa is at 10, Rydia is at 14 (I think), and Edward is at 12. As for the gameplay, it's a lot like the other FFs, but your item inventory is a LOT smaller, and there aren't as many conveniences as the later FFs (i.e. switching between the front and back row individually rather than the whole group). Oh yeah, you can also have five people in your party this time. I'm four hours into the game...wonder how long it'll last. *wonders if anyone'll read this*

Nope. No one will ever read this. Not event that Zoten fella.
I should play this game.... I bet I'd kick ass at it, too.

I've played the SNES version and this one. It's a good game, but I only feel the need to replay it once every few years. And don't worry, ShadowyOne, you'll be ripping your hair out throughout the game. (assuming this is your first time playing it)

Get 99 across the board, beat Golbez, beat the final boss dude (forgot name) and you'll be on my level. >.> Very good game. You get owned at Fabul, right after Fabul, and a little while after getting owned after Fabul. Actually, you'll get owned all the time. You get a new character at the top of the mountain. Have fun.

Whoa, two people have played it (and one responding to the topic anyway, which is cool)? Cool, guess I can post everything here.
Yeah, this game is a lot harder than most of the other RPGs I've played, but I'm still going.
Anyway, yeah, Cecil just turned into a Paladin and started kicking ass. Then Tellah remembers his spells and begins kicking ass as well. Pretty cool. Anyway, I'm just trying to level Cecil up to where he was before (20 or so) before I move on. Right now, he's at 13 (I seriously gained like 7 levels after one battle), Tellah's at 23, and I think the two mages (Porom and Palom?) at are 17 and 18.
It would've been cooler if this game had more development (character- and plot-wise). I mean, I didn't really expect a FF7/8/9 type of story, since it's an old game. For example, in the beginning when Rydia's village burns down, the conversation goes like this:
Cecil: "Wow, I just burned down your town." Rydia: "I hate you, you killed everybody!" Cecil: "Sorry...c'mon, let's go, we're traveling as a party now." Rydia: "No." Cecil: "Let's go." Rydia: "Okay."
I guess more "emotional" scenes weren't as drawn-out as I expected them to be.
And yeah, this is my first time playing it. I've been doing all right so far...does it get really hard later on? How should I prepare?
...Any side quests at this point, or no? Oh yeah, and how far in the game am I?

I have this game but didn't go very far... I think I got a little pasted the part where you meet the Fat Chocobo...
This game was OK, but the battles were annoying. It seemed like every five st---- *FF Battle Music* --- eps it we ---- *FF Battle Music* --- nt to the battle music.
Also, what about that intro. If I remember correctly, it had like a marquee going up and there was like a ship or something? That thing was long. Felt like 15 minutes..
.. maybe when I finish my new file on FFVII, I'll go ahead and play this game.

Hah, yeah, sometimes you (literally, I'm not kidding) take a step right after you just fought a battle, and get into another one. Anyway, I bought so much crap for the whole party, I went down from 50,000 gil to 24,000. It seemed like my party would kick ass, though, but then I went into the next dungeon and found out it was the opposite. It's those damn mages and their...less than 1,000 HP. Cecil and Yang both have over 1,000, Tellah only has 450 or so, and the two twin mages only have like 275. I'm going to fight the boss at Baron Castle next (not the guy who joins your party for a minute and then turns on you, the one after that).

Tellah never gains any more HP, or MP I believe. You lose two characters after that fight. Cecil as a Paladin kicks ass, especially when he gets *censored* to *censored* (End of game spoilers ) The best character you ever get is actually Rydia, then another guy, then Cecil, then Rosa, and then a fifth person who's name I forget. OH wait, his name's Kain. >.> Anyway, good luck, and if you need any help. Let me know. Also, the guiy you're about to fight is water based, and is weaker then the guy who quick joined.

ShadowyOne, you said that you were waiting to get Cecil back to the level he was at, so does that mean he drops levels?
Naruto, give me the game until you catch up to my file on your new file.

Yeah, Cecil goes down to level 1 after he turns into a paladin.
